SOS

It’s normal to have discomfort for a day or two after braces are adjusted. You can take pain relievers like aspirin or paracetamol. If you have pain for more than 48 hours please make an SOS-appointment.

If the bracket has come off please keep the bracket and make an SOS appointment as soon as possible.

Occasionally the end of a wire will work itself out of place and irritate your mouth. Use your finger or a pencil eraser to push the wire so that it is flat against the tooth. If the wire cannot be moved into a comfortable position, cover it with relief wax.

In a situation where the wire is extremely bothersome you may clip the wire and use some wax to cover the end of wire.

If an alastic ligature should come off just leave it as it is. If a wire ligature comes loose, simply remove it. 

Sometimes new braces can be irritating to the mouth. A small amount of relief wax creates an excellent buffer between metal and mouth. Simply pinch off a small piece and roll it into a ball the size of a small pea. Flatten the ball and place it completely over the area of the braces causing irritation.

If the irritation is not getting better please make an SOS appointment.

If the headgear is not fitting properly anymore or is not possible to wear, please make an SOS appointment as soon as possible.
